The inclement weather has caused the Bolnuevo Erosions to have appeared this morning with one of its monoliths affected.
The intense rains and strong blows of wind during the last night, and also predictably for the last storms;
have damaged this area declared a Unique Natural Monument of the Region of Murcia
The Mazarrón City Council, in view of the risk that being near Erosions could suppose, has fenced the environment of the natural monument to maintain security in the area.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, has approached the place where he has maintained contact with a technician from the General Directorate of Natural Environment of the Autonomous Community of Murcia and verifies the beaconing work carried out.
The City Council has been insistently requesting the aforementioned general directorate for the conditioning and fencing of the Erosions to prevent people from climbing to the top of them, due to the risk that this entailed for both the people and the monument itself.
Likewise, meetings have been held with the company that owns the land, which had shown its predisposition so that the project of protection and conservation could be carried out by the Natural Environment of the CARM, which has the funds and the project awarded waiting for permission.
The first mayor will urgently convey to the aforementioned general direction tomorrow the need to "act immediately" because "although the natural phenomenon of erosion in the monument cannot be stopped, it can be better preserved if access to the people to the same. "
Likewise, it will be requested that the possibility of recovering the original appearance of the Erosions be studied to the extent that works can be applied that improve their conservation for a longer period of time, thus avoiding their deterioration.
