The Spanish Adapted Surf Team took this month with the gold in the world championship that was held in the United States.
A member of the team is Efren Mompeán, who suffers from visual impairment while competing in the parasurfer VI modality, and is a member of the Mazarrón Bahiasurf Club.
After a hard year of training with his caddy, Jose María Cascales and president of the Mazarron club, Mompeán achieved his sixth position in the World Cup helping to get gold in the World Cup for the Spanish team.
The city of San Diego was the scene where the Spanish Surfing Federation conquered its first gold as a team.
The team trained by Luis Pérez "Gigi", Lucas García, Eunate Aguirre and led by Lourenço Chaves de Almeidase brought to Spain the first salad bowl that will shine in the showcases of the national team.
