| The vice president of CARM, Isabel Franco, visits Mazarrón to meet with the mayor, Gaspar Miras, and the deputy mayor, Ginés Campillo | The regional vice president and counselor for Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy, Isabel Franco, visited the Mazarrón City Council yesterday where she held a meeting with the mayor, Gaspar Miras, and deputy mayor, Ginés Campillo.
The councilor for Social Policy and Equality, Miguel Ángel Peña, the councilor for Personnel, Plácida Gómez, and the councilor for Services, Tomás Ureña, also participated in the meeting.
An appointment that was also attended by the general director of Social Services and Relations with the Third Sector, José López, and the director of the IMAS, Raquel Cancela, as well as the representatives of the Municipal Group of Citizens in plenary, Marisol Vivancos and Soledad Muñoz . Both administrations have agreed to set up a working table that will study how to coordinate and share the use of the 'El Peñasco' facilities, owned by the Murcian Institute for Social Action (IMAS).
The Mayor, Gaspar Miras, explained that the circumstances of the health crisis forced the opening of this residence as a gesture of solidarity to serve the most disadvantaged people.
A management that was carried out jointly by both governments, "and as a result very fluid conversations have been started in recent months, which open up the possibilities for a new use project that will be transferred over time, the work, study and analysis of the residence El Peñasco ". For her part, Isabel Franco has highlighted the contribution of the municipality of Mazarrón in the management of this health crisis, "attending to people who were on the street in different parts of the Region, without any type of assistance to help prevent the contagion by coronavirus and that they needed the assistance not only of the administrations, but also of the generosity of the residents of the localities where we have improvised those resources to welcome them and thereby guarantee the safety of them and the entire population.
" Both the mayor and the vice president have taken this opportunity to thank the work of several people who have dedicated all their effort and commitment to this very difficult process; to José López, the general director of Social Policy, for the involvement he has with the department of social services, facilitating and collaborating with the communication connection through the different aids and subsidies that the Autonomous Community of the Regional Government makes to the City Council of Mazarrón in different areas; "such as the elimination of energy poverty, basic assistance in social services and a new program that has to be carried out for the eradication of slums in our municipality through a European project," emphasized Gaspar Miras.While Isabel Franco has dedicated a few words to Raquel Cancela, director of the IMAS, "for his involvement in all the work carried out in the last three months, his dialogue with the municipal representatives of Mazarrón." In the same way, the deputy mayor Ginés Campillo, thanked "the counselor's willingness to carry out social initiatives in the municipality that imply a visa improvement for the citizens of Mazarrón." Campillo stressed that "a very productive meeting has been held between both administrations to discuss important issues that affect the citizens of the municipality.
