Initiative presented this morning by the Councilor for Social Policy, Miguel Ángel Peña and by the Head of Social Services, Javier Díaz, along with Carmen Navarro, president of the Red Cross in Mazarrón, an organization that works together each year to carry out this activity .Miguel Ángel Peña stressed that this is an important effort made by the local administration "with the aim of reconciling the lives of the families of the municipality during the summer, especially now more than ever, because we are facing a difficult situation, and it is these types of activities that help combat school failure ".
He has also explained that it will be an activity that will be carried out for free and in which access criteria of income not exceeding three times the IPREM, single-parent families, numerous and that both parents are working will be prioritized.Likewise, he has thanked the daily work that both the Department of Social Services of the City Council and the Red Cross Mazarrón carry out for the care and well-being of citizens, especially for those most vulnerable families.
In this way, the summer schools will be held with teachers, monitors of leisure and free time, therapists and a coordinator of the Red Cross.
In addition, different volunteers will be incorporated on different days of the week, so that young and future teachers have the opportunity to make their way and reinforce their experience.80 places for children from 4 to 12 years oldThe 2020 Summer Schools are aimed at children from 4 to 12 years old and will be held at the Francisco Caparros de Mazarrón School and the Bahía de Puerto de Mazarrón School.
A total of 80 places are offered, 40 for each school and divided into 4 groups of 10 children, who will be taught from July 20 to August 21 by teachers and monitors from 09:00 to 14:00.
