The remodeling was inaugurated yesterday by the mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, the pediatric mayor of Majada, Pilar López, the councilor for Sports, Francisco José García, and the mayor of districts, José María Moreno; who were accompanied by the councilors of the government team Plácida Gómez, Tomás Ureña, Miguel Ángel Peña and Raquel Raja; and a large number of residents who attended the event after the mass celebrated in the hermitage of the district in honor of its patron saint, La Purísima. The Councilor for Sports, Francisco José García, explained that "we wanted to inaugurate the track by doing sports activities on the occasion of the holidays but due to the situation generated by the coronavirus it has not been possible." The mayor added that this initiative "shows that the government team is betting on the districts that in recent years have been much forgotten" highlighting "that various sports spaces are also being improved in other parts of the municipality." José María Moreno, councilor responsible for Pedanías, endorsed the words of his partner in government and reiterated the City Council's commitment to the residents who live in rural areas since "I am aware of the neglect they have been suffering." José María Moreno affirmed in this sense that "we are going to continue working for the districts so that they improve as much as possible and from the government team we show our commitment to them so that they continue to grow." The pediatric mayor of Majada, Pilar López, thanked the municipal representatives for the investment made on behalf of the neighbors, whom she thanked for their commitment and "that they are supporting me so that I can do what they request." In fact, the commemorative plaque highlights that the remodeling "was inaugurated by the residents of La Majada" on September 8, the great day of the patron saint of the district, when in addition to the mass the traditional and beautiful Huerta procession is held.
