At the end of last August, a woman filed a complaint with the Civil Guard in which she stated that she had suffered a sexual assault while she was in a cove in the Mazarrón municipality. In the complaint, the woman reported that when she was alone on the beach, a young man suddenly pounced on her, forced her to sexually assault her and ended up stealing the valuables she was carrying at that time. Members of the Judicial Police of the Benemérita began the investigation in order to verify the criminal act and, where appropriate, clarify it, so that, as it was a serious crime, all possible resources were directed to solve it as soon as possible. The first investigations were carried out with the victim, with possible witnesses and in the area of ??the event in order to collect all possible indications about the modus operandi and the physical description of the author. While the investigation was taking place, during the night of September 14, a second crime against sexual freedom was committed.

In this case, an individual tried to sexually assault a woman who was alone next to her van on a beach in Mazarrón; however, on this occasion, the victim was able to run away from the place screaming, which made the author desist from his intentions and flee the place. From this second criminal act, committed by a young man with similar physical characteristics as in the first criminal act investigated, the Civil Guard managed to identify a person and established the main line of investigation on him. After obtaining all the necessary evidence, the Civil Guard established a search device on the suspect that culminated last Wednesday, September 16, with his location and arrest as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of sexual assault, sexual abuse and robbery with violence and intimidation. With the arrest of the alleged rapist, it has been possible to clarify all the investigated facts and prevent this person from continuing to commit such serious crimes, which had generated a notable social alarm in the municipality. The Moroccan detainee, 26 years old and resident in Mazarrón, along with the proceedings, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of Totana (Murcia), which has ordered his entry into prison.
