| The Southeast Diving Center 'Bachisub' and the City Council do not miss this appointment, celebrating in turn the XXVI cleaning of the Bay of Mazarrón | Dozens of volunteers, including divers and participants on land, participated yesterday in the VI Great International Seabed Cleanup; developed in various parts of the Spanish coast, among which, for yet another year, was Mazarrón, which in turn was celebrating the 26th cleaning of the Bay's seabed.
This year, due to the health situation, there have been 20 volunteers who have participated as a preventive measure against Covid. The Southeast Diving Center 'Bachisub', in collaboration with the Mazarrón City Council, have thus not missed the international meeting, working together to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our beaches and waters; activity that have also had the collaboration of the Federation of Underwater Activities of the Region of Murcia (FASRM); the Marina of Mazarrón; Viggos restaurant; New Bodeguita; Bar Morales and other shops in the area. The director of the aforementioned diving center, Alfonso Bachiller, explained that "in the municipality of Mazarrón participation in this type of activities is always high, however, as a result of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, and as a preventive measure , we have had to restrict enrollment to twenty divers.
" Likewise, he stressed that "the waters of our town boast of a great cleanliness, since we have been carrying out this activity for many years," even so, he stressed that "divers have proceeded to collect objects and materials, some strange , and other more common such as bottles, cans or nets, which are totally harmful to our sea ". For his part, the councilor of Puerto de Mazarrón, José María Moreno, wanted to thank and support this initiative and expressed his surprise "when he saw the immensity of materials and objects that are at the bottom of the sea" highlighting that "with cleaning and actions such as these, we realize the good we do to nature and to our seabed ". In addition, Moreno added that this year this activity "has been added to 'virtual cleaning', which allows volunteers who have been left out due to the restrictive measures of Covid-19, clean other natural environments that are also of great importance, and thus reflect it with photographs that call for citizen participation, "he added. The acting mayor, Ginés Campillo, stressed that "it is a great example that in such an atypical year, where risk is present, there are still people who want to do things for the municipality, as is the case of Alfonso Bachiller and the Sureste-Bachisub Diving Center ", and with it," not to lose this initiative that has been carried out for twenty-six years and that makes us the reference municipality, nationally and internationally, for cleaning the seabed ". Likewise, Ginés Campillo reiterated his gratitude to the diving center, because, "they will always have our help and support, since we need this action to be carried out every year, with which we all benefit, not only for cleaning but for the awareness that involves citizens, especially with the smallest, since it is extremely necessary to educate them in the respect that the marine environment deserves ", he concluded.
