The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, Councillor for Social Policy, Laura Ortiz and the Red Cross president in Mazarrón, Carmen Navarro, met Tuesday with the consul of Ecuador in Murcia, Gustavo Mateus and his two vice-consuls, Juan Valencia and Janet Tadeo, to coordinate aid that the municipality can provide to the victims of the recent earthquake in Ecuador.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Amazon River Association and the Association of Housewives Almazarrón.
Said meeting took place at the local office of Red Cross and was framed within the visit, informal, by the consul of Ecuador that was intended to inform, first hand, the situation in the Latin American country after the earthquake that he has left a total figure of nearly 100,000 homeless.
During the meeting they highlighted the most urgent needs that have affected drinking water, basic items and hygiene products.
He cited being received warm clothes being unnecessary this contribution in the country where the earthquake has occurred.
According to Red Cross sources said, it is expected that the recovery is very slow and that the aid from being prolonged in time.
