Mateo Garcia, writer and correspondent responsible for several regional newspapers Mazarrón journalist since the early 60s has made a new donation to the Municipal Archives from its extensive archive and photographic collection.
A few weeks ago, the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, visited the residence in Totana Mateo Garcia and during the meeting with the veteran journalist took place the donation of nine albums of photographs, three boxes of slides and two volumes with press clippings sports writers.
The Board of Governors on Friday, in ordinary session, approved accept this donation and thank the generosity selflessly shows Mateo Garcia with the municipality of Mazarrón to transfer part of its archive and collection methodically has collected over the years and that adds to previous donations.
The documents, considered a part of the historical memory of the municipality, will be part of the Fund Mateo Garcia Martinez to be kept in the Municipal Archives.
Also, the City Council agrees to safeguard and preserve the documentation provided and make it available to researchers so that it can be consulted.
Among the delivered documents 787 photographs in black and white and color of Mazarrón and Puerto, 130 slides of Puerto de Mazarrón, seascapes, fishing fleet and Zoo Playasol are, among other places and numerous sporting articles published in regional monitoring with local football teams.
