On Tuesday June 14, the Cultural Center welcomes Mazarrón from 17:30 hours a technical conference dedicated to preventing agricultural and report on how to treat the plague of whiteflies.
Under the title "Bemisia tabaci, a limiting vector. Prevention of and Fight", the conference will address most aspects to consider for prevention and adequate fight against whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), a widespread global species and which it has become one of the transmitters more aggressive viral vectors, causing major losses to the industry.
The conference will be opened by Juana Mulero, Director General of Agrifood Innovation of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, by Alicia Jiménez, Mayor of Mazarrón and Jesus Lopez, territorial director of Cajamar in the Region of Murcia.
The details of it were presented Monday by the Councillor for Agriculture of the City of Mazarrón, Maria Isabel Lopez and Bernardo Rubio, technical manager of Coexma.
Five speakers will address various aspects of interest to the farmer in the field of prevention and proper struggle to follow to treat this pest.
Currently, control of this insect passes for taking so mean at the individual level of each farmer, as pooled measures throughout the production area.
To do this, experts say, is necessary to know the biology and behavior of this pest and prevent concrete measures such as the use of tolerant varieties, biological control using insects, physical protection, bands and attractive chromatic plates and adequate control.
