Students of the College of Education and Primary Infanta Leonor de Mazarrón participated Thursday in the campaign to promote healthy eating which develops the Association of Producers and Exporters of hortofrutículas of the Region of Murcia (Proexport).
The campaign has involved the distribution of 540,000 servings of fruits and vegetables in more than 350 schools in the region.
With the collaboration of local company Perichán they have been distributed in four classrooms of the school Mazarron several servings of tomatoes cherry variety.
Students have attended the talk of the program coordinator Jose Ramon Carrasco, who has led them to not stop eating fruit and vegetables, and to assess the production of local farmers.
The campaign is co-funded by the European Union and is developed jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, stressed the importance of such programs, more so in a municipality as Mazarrón where agriculture is an economic engine.
For its part, the director of CEIP Infanta Leonor, Antonio Gallego, recalled that since the school has been adding, for some time, these healthy eating programs with similar initiatives.
The site visit has also been attended by the Councillor for Agriculture of the City of Mazarrón, Maria Isabel Lopez.
