The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Thomas Violante signed today with the Mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, the addendum to the cooperation agreement to assist people with intellectual disabilities in the day care center in the municipality.
Under the agreement between the Murciano Institute of Social Action and the consistory, Mazarrón have four more seats, funded with 323,000 euros by the Ministry, which offer this service in the city reached 29 seats.
After signing the agreement, the Minister of Family stressed "the regional government's commitment to people with disabilities, a group that must be protected, being one of the priority measures the creation of places for dependents and proof of this is which to date already created 269 new jobs. Therefore, we offer up to 3,920 seats to meet the needs of this group. "
For the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jimenez, "it is good news for the town as it manages to extend this social care service given the objectives necessary application development and integration that meets".
The Minister added that "according to the latest report of the System Unit published the IMSERSO, dated May 31, we have already exceeded the 30,000 dependents (30,126) with benefits provided. Since early this year, there are 2,641 people more addressed. "
This report puts the region as the seventh region with more population served compared to the total population, besides being the more people joined last month provision (1,280), only surpassed by Castilla and Leon.
Violante Thomas explained that the effort is being done to cater for dependents is reflected in these statistics of the Ministry, since "we are the third autonomous community with more people attended to which they are entitled in Grades II and III, with 90 percent, only surpassed by Castilla and Leon and Madrid ".
