The Ministry of Culture and Spokesman will conduct a survey of the Bay of Mazarrón in search of new vessels and archaeological remains, prior to extraction for subsequent exposure Phoenician ship 'Mazarrón II' step.
The purpose of these works, which will be allocated 10,000 euros, is to have a map of the seabed for the detection of new findings.
Currently, the Phoenician ships are very localized in an area of ​​the beach.
However, technical rule not detect the presence of others at the time, or other, by the bay and, specifically, under the current wreck, which is shielded in a special sarcophagus and nearby.
In this regard, researchers believe that the area where they were found the 'Mazarrón I' and 'II Mazarrón' is an anchorage which could accommodate boats or other assets.
For this reason, Culture, in coordination with the Town Council, held between late this year and early next year a full study using geophysical means and divers.
"What we will perform is an 'X' subsoil to finding new remains. The latest technologies allow to cover a larger area and greater depth in relation to the exploration performing professional divers. In addition, it is very advanced techniques and non-invasive to avoid that may affect the remains, "said the Minister of Culture and the regional government spokesman, Noelia Arroyo.
The survey is carried out with high-tech gadgets traveling in boats sailing in parallel lines and detect any abnormality of the seabed, such as a boat or other archaeological remains.
The resulting graphs are interpreted by experts to identify possible assets.
Also at the last meeting of the monitoring committee of the Phoenician boat Mazarron, composed of representatives of the City of Mazarrón, the region and the central government, it was agreed to designate the archeologist Carles de Juan as scientific director of the project.
