This Saturday, December 3, marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
To commemorate this date the Mazarrón Day Center has hosted a day of activities in which the users of the center participated, as well as students from the open classrooms of the educational centers and also from the Alzheimer Unit.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and Councilor for Social Policy, Laura Ortiz have accompanied monitors, teachers, students and families on a special day for them.
Alicia Jiménez stressed "the importance of implementing policies that favor better accessibility and a socio-labor integration".
In this sense, it has influenced the work being done by the current government team, work has indicated "on which we must insist to continue to remove barriers and offer better care."
The day began at 10:00, with the visualization of two videos, one made by the Siglo XXI school and another by the users of the Day Center of People with Intellectual Disabilities.
In both audiovisuals the different activities realized during this year were appreciated.
Later, at 10:30, two roundtables were held.
The first one was made up of family members of users of the Day Center, and they told about their experience in the field of disability, with the aim of informing and sensitizing what it has meant for them to coexist with it.
The second one was made up of Pilar Verdú, an entrepreneur who carries out a labor integration program with 3 users of the Day Center and two users included in a job insertion program (PIR), carried out in the same center.
The purpose of this table was to raise awareness among the population about the importance of inserting labor for people with disabilities, as well as the positive results that can be obtained for the companies themselves.
Subsequently, different activities were carried out by the centers.
The open classroom of the school Francisco Caparrós prepared the choreography "We are a tide of people," the IES Domingo Valdivieso performed a play "La ratita presumida" and CDPDI users danced the song "Vivir, vivir".
