The tourism potential of the municipality of Mazarrón, especially focused on active tourism that encompasses hiking routes and cyclists will be very present in the next edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) to be held in Madrid next week.
Mazarrón will have a special section in the stand of the Autonomous Community, opening a window to the thousands of visitors of the fair, showing the beauty and the ample possibilities that their landscapes offer.
An agreement with Google allowed during 2016 to capture more than 100 kilometers between beaches, hiking trails and greenway to finally offer a virtual trip through the municipality.
The project "Mazarrón Trekker" was presented Thursday by the Councilor for Tourism, María Ángeles Román, along with Daniel José Aragón, one of the technicians who has worked on the initiative.
In total, images of 32 kilometers of coast have been captured with two urban routes from the Mojón to Bolnuevo and another by the virgin coves from Bolnuevo to the limit with Lorca.
The interior of the municipality can also be known virtually, thus showing 54 kilometers of trails belonging to the Sierra de las Herrerías, Algarrobo, Barranco de Algezares, as well as historical sites such as the Coto Minero de Mazarrón.
Also shown 14 kilometers from the Greenway.
Mazarrón joins geographical areas of Galicia and Catalonia that in 2016 saw the opportunity to show their potential thanks to the project Google Street View Loan Program.
This platform shows a great number of places of special interest and architectural beauty or landscape, places of difficult access of tourist zones of reference like Petra or The Galapagos Islands.
Thanks to this project integrates Mazarrón as one of the entities with more kilometers of Street View Trekker Loan Program of Spain.
For the capture of the images has worked a team of technicians and volunteers of the City of Mazarrón.
The result can start to be verified in the tools of Google Maps and the Google Street View App.
Gastronomy of Mazarrón and agricultural innovation in Fitur 2017
The official presentation of Mazarrón in Fitur will take place on Wednesday, January 18, starting at 12:30 p.m.
It will be time to present, in detail, "Mazarrón Trekker".
At 14:30 hours the local gastronomy and its most characteristic products will be featured, with a prominent presence for the winning top of gAstrogAllo 2.1 "Tartar de Sardina con Tomate de Mazarrón", in collaboration with Nueva Bodeguita.
Subsequently at 15:00 hours, will be offered, in collaboration with the company Duran, a tasting of tropical fruits, highlighting the commitment of agricultural innovation that takes place in the municipality.
