The fishing port of Mazarrón has improved its surveillance system with the installation of 25 security cameras that allow to intensify the protection of the fishing boats and the facilities of the pier.
The cameras, which are in operation, have been distributed throughout the site, the market (both inside and outside), the boat dock and the esplanade where the mooring points are located, to control the entry and exit of boats.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and the mayor of Puerto de Mazarron, Manuel Sánchez, held a working meeting with the Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Pedro Rivera, on Monday, which was also attended by the director general of Puerto , Salvador García Ayllón and the councilman of Fishing of the City council of Mazarrón, Isabel Maria López.

Number of historical catches
The fishing port houses about 40 boats dedicated to the minor arts, fence and drag.
Its main catches in 2016 were boquerón, with 700 tons and a value of 2.2 million euros;
Sardine, with 176,000 kilos and an economic impact of 400,000 euros, and red shrimp, with 8,500 kilos and a value of 350,000 euros.
Improvements to the dock worth 20,000 euros
The Department of Development made an investment of more than 20,000 euros in repair and maintenance of the docks of the auction, which consisted of the installation of lighting in the area canteen and fishery of the southern pier, as well as repairing public toilets and Of the canteen socket of the market of the port of Mazarrón.
As for improving safety at the dock, the anti-vandalism system consists of a 360-degree home automation system, with infrared leds and 3 megapixel resolution, and 24 180-degree cameras with the same characteristics;
