The Department will program about 40 visits to encourage the conservation and valuation of the landscapes of Mazarrón
More than 1,800 students from 13 schools in Mazarrón, as well as rural schools, are participating this week in a new edition of the Southeast Program organized by the Department of Environment of the City of Mazarrón.
His councilor, Francisco García Asensio, presented this Tuesday the contents of a program that encourages the conservation and appreciation of local landscapes through 37 guided visits with schools and institutes of the municipality.
Students visit ramblas and mountain ranges of the municipality, as well as natural sites with history or archaeological sites.
Among them are areas of high interest such as the Las Moreras wetland and visits to points such as the ecoparque and a sewage treatment plant.
Francisco García Asensio, accompanied by the municipal technician, Manuel Fernández, has highlighted the importance of outlets that reveal processes such as the water cycle or the benefits of recycling.
Also, each month, a group visits the municipal fire station where they receive information about the performances in the Nature of the brigades.
This program, which is on its way to two decades, wishes to teach to look again at the social and natural reality of Mazarrón, to discuss the mere "personal taste" for landscapes, to overcome the existing vulgar and intuitive valuation, to value landscapes as a product A social result of the interaction of human interventions on ecosystems, view the landscape as a resource, which presents notable impacts in some economic sectors and, in general, appreciate, value and conserve landscapes.
