The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, met today with the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, to analyze the endowment of Social Services of the municipality.
After the meeting, Violante Tomás recalled that attention to groups deserving special protection is a priority of the regional government, "so that the subsidy given by the Community to the Municipal Social Services of Primary Care ".
The general budgets of the Community foresee an endowment of 235,000 euros for this municipality, which increases by more than 24,000 euros the 210,000 euros that were given last year in the same concept.
The Social Services of Primary Care constitute the first level of attention of the social services system and consequently of exclusive public responsibility.
"It is a question of ensuring the attention, promotion and insertion of people with such important social needs as absences from minimum living standards, dependency situations or processes of social exclusion. Professionals, and a very important budgetary injection, "said the minister.
In the care of people with intellectual disabilities, 29 people are being cared for in the day center, through an agreement signed between the Murcian Institute of Social Action IMAS and the Consistory, which are funded with 323,000 euros by the Ministry .
This agreement, signed last year, meant an increase of four places compared to those that were being offered in the first half of 2016.
As for the Center for Child Development and Early Care, the Ministry serves 218 children in the municipal center, funded with 104,335 euros.
These minors, who have developmental disorders or are at risk of suffering from them, receive everything that from prevention and assistance enhances their capacity for development and well-being, following a model that considers the bio-psycho-social aspects, thus enabling their Integration in the family and social environment, as well as their personal autonomy.
Care for the elderly
In addition, the Ministry allocates more than 162,000 euros to the care of 20 elderly people in the day center, where they receive care close to their usual environment and do not have to resort to a residence.
The IMAS also has a social center for its own seniors in this municipality, with more than 5,500 members, and has contracted with the city council the service of teleassistance of 64 users, and the one of help at home, which lends to ten people.
The Family Counselor, Violante Tomás, pledged to the mayor Alicia Jiménez to maintain the support of families in this municipality, amounting to more than 8,572 euros.
Violante Tomás explained that "the financing of the Directorate General for Women includes educational and recreational projects for schools for non-academic periods, aimed at children between 3 and 12 years, extended hours in schools and after school activities, in addition to services Kangaroo or punctual care ".
The counselor also referred to the protection provided by the Directorate General of Women to victims of gender violence with a comprehensive, personalized and free care, which is provided during the time necessary to leave the situation of abuse and from the areas Legal, social and psychological professionals.
The CAVI of the municipality, with a budget of 38,500 euros, has a multidisciplinary team of technicians specialized in gender violence, which with the incorporation of six new women, in the year 2016 carried out 105 services.
