Mazarrón was once again a benchmark for national cycling.
Last weekend the municipal term hosted the VIII Vuelta a Murcia Master who had as final winner to the Madrid Orquín Juan Carlos Fernandez "Puma" and in which were present the champions of Spain Master.
The competition began on the morning of Saturday April 1 at Avenida de la Constitución with the ribbon cutting protocol by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez and the director of Sports of the Autonomous Community, Alonso Gómez.
The cyclists completed a total of 66 kilometers on a double round trip with departure and finish in Mazarrón passing through Gañuelas, La Majada, La Atalaya and Leiva.
The Albacete Pedro L. Milan clearly prevailed to the sprint in the Avenue of the Constitution.
In the afternoon, in the time of just over 6 kilometers, Juan Carlos Fernández registered the best time with 48'50 minutes, rolling almost 41 kilometers on average on an upward terrain from start.
In the demanding stage of Sunday, with climbs to the highs of Cedacero and La Cuesta, José D. Gómez managed to enter the group of the leader and finish third in the final general.
The stage was won by Juan Manuel Camacho.
The Murcia Oscar Valera won the Mountain and Pedro Jose Lopez the Flying Goals.
Five Mazarrón runners participated in the VIII Cycle Tour Master: Juan Antonio Sánchez of Uniformes Murcia, Ramón Martínez of ULB Sport Monforte, José Pérez of CC Fenicios 2.0, Agustín Herreros of CC Fenicios 2.0 and Antonio García of CC Fenicios 2.0.
Among the participants was also the presence of the well-known auto pilot Ricardo Merhi.
