The Municipal Network of Public Libraries of Mazarrón, a subsidiary of the Department of Libraries, has developed an extensive program to encourage reading coinciding with the month in which World Book Day is celebrated.
Activities for all ages will focus on this goal, including novelties such as free workshops of magic tricks and experiments and the activity "The Library goes out to the street", as they have advanced in the presentation of the program the councilman Libraries, Patricio Sánchez and the Director of the Archive, Magdalena Campillo.
This programming will be continued in May with a special tribute to the famous author of "Matilda", Roald Dahl.
April begins with visits to the libraries of the schools, the open classrooms and the Alzheimer's Unit.
Also with one of the main novelties of this year will be the Free Workshops of Magic Tricks and Experiments, activity directed to readers from 8 to 12 years with a maximum of 20 participants.
It will take place in the Library of Puerto de Mazarrón on Thursday, April 6 at 17:30 and in the Library of Mazarrón on Friday, April 7 at the same time.
Entries will be made in both libraries.
Another novelty of the spring reading of 2017 will be the activity "The Library goes out to the Street", initiative of incentivation to the reading in public places and of constant step that will be carried out on Tuesday, April 18, in the Plaza Toneleros de Puerto de Mazarrón and on Wednesday, 19 April in the Garden of La Purisima de Mazarrón from 16:30 to 19:30 hours.
The students of selectivity will have, on Thursday, April 20 at 20:30 hours in the Cultural Center, a new opportunity to improve what they have learned and to prepare their exams of access to the University with the conference "Generation of the 98", in charge of Vicente Cervera, professor of Hispanic American Literature.
This conference gives continuity to the one made by Carmen María López on March 30 and which dealt with the Generation of 27.
Storytelling, Cinema in the Library, Bibliopatio in Puerto de Mazarrón and crafts workshops in both public libraries complete the programming of the month of April.
In May it will be the turn to pay homage to the celebrated Welsh writer Roald Dahl, author of "Matilda".
For this, the students of the different educational centers will perform a theatrical performance on May 4 and 5 in the Cultural Center, starting at 8 pm.
On May 5 will be the delivery of the prizes + Children's Reader, + Adult Reader and the photographic contest "We Like to Read".
It will also be from 20:00 hours at the Cultural Center.
Finally for May 18, the Municipal Library Network has organized an exit to the Teatro Guerra de Lorca to attend the play "The speed of the Fall" played by Lola Herrera and Juanjo Artero.
Entries for this activity will be made in the libraries of Mazarrón and Puerto.
