The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the operation 'GOSTÁN', has developed an investigation aimed at clarifying alleged scams by the fraudulent use of bank cards, which has allowed to arrest a person as presumed author of at least Four offenses of fraud with means of payment.
The investigation began when several residents of the municipality of Puerto de Mazarrón denounced to the Civil Guard the fraudulent use of credit or debit cards that allegedly had been illegally seized at several ATMs of local bank branches.
The injured had received charges in their bank accounts, either for cash withdrawals, or for purchases made in various commercial establishments in Puerto de Mazarrón and over the Internet.

The Guardia Civil examined electronic devices at ATMs, where no external devices were used to hold credit cards, which meant that the suspect installed the mechanism at night and removed them at the last minute. Dawn, to prevent the bank itself perceived this anomaly and communicate it to the Civil Guard.
Those affected, after not being able to make the reimbursement and keep the card withheld, found that the money they were to extract was kept in their accounts so, with this guarantee, they left to go the day after the branch to recover their card .
The investigators focused on the purchases made in the municipality, which allowed to identify several establishments where the suspect had paid with the cards of the victims, reason why a wide police device was established to locate it and to stop it.

These services allowed his identification and detention when he was in one of the shops, to which he had returned to pick up a pending purchase.
The arrested man carried between his belongings two credit cards, denounced by their legitimate owners, who once recovered have been related to the crimes investigated and returned to their owners.
The operation 'GOSTÁN' has so far allowed the arrest of a man, of Romanian nationality, 37 years old and neighbor of Puerto de Mazarrón, as alleged perpetrator of continuing felony crime.
The Civil Guard does not rule out that there are more people related to the authorship of the crimes investigated, as well as other victims, so it keeps the operation open.
The arrested, the recovered effects and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Totana (Murcia).
