City council, community and associations promote initiatives to promote equality in rural areas (21/06/2017)

Presented in Mazarrón the manuals of OMEP and AFAMMER during a day that contributed business ideas to future entrepreneurs

The Center for Municipal Initiatives for Employment (CIME) in Mazarrón hosted Tuesday the "There are women, there are companies" day organized jointly by the General Directorate of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the Organization of Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals (OMEP), the Municipality of Mazarrón and the Confederation of Associations of Families and Rural Women (AFAMMER).

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Women, Alicia Barquero, who stressed the commitment of the regional government to promote policies that promote equality and transversality in sectors such as agriculture and livestock.

From this commitment, the impulse born together with the City of Mazarrón shows in the development of initiatives that are born of associations concerned with giving greater force to the role of women in the business world.

The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, highlighted the policies of training and generation of aid promoted by the Department of Employment of the City of Mazarron, with the support of the regional government.

The meeting was aimed at women who are going to start a business, those who lead a company and need training and professionals from the field of farms and agricultural and livestock cooperatives, especially.

Throughout the afternoon, the manual "Emprender y Consolidar en Femenino" ("Undertake and Consolidate in Women") was prepared by OMEP, which, according to Magdalena Fernández, is already in its second phase to start in September.

Also, Carmen English of AFAMMER released the Manual of Best Practices for the Implementation of the Principle of Equality and Stewardship in Rural Businesses in the Region of Murcia.

The meeting was attended by the mayors of Employment and Commerce, María Ángeles Román and Marisol Vivancos.

Also involved were Sheila Templado, vocal mazarronera of the OMEP Board of Directors, Francisca Madrid, president of ACOMA and Paqui Lorenzo de D'Arome.
