The RM 310 that connects to the hamlet of Ga駏elas with Alhama is one of the roads of the Region of Murcia included by the General Direction of Traffic (DGT) in a map of 138 national protected routes for cyclists.
Gregorio Serrano, director general of Traffic, said that "the aim of this measure is to protect the thousands of cycling users who mainly go out on weekends to practice cycling, so that they have specially supervised routes."
The specific measures will be carried out during the days and hours of the most outstanding and habitual presence of cyclists, which is usually the mornings of Saturdays and holidays.
Among the measures to be adopted we highlight:
路 Signaling of the cycle route and traffic calming: temporary decrease of the maximum speed limit.
路 On the part of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard (ATGC) will be intensified the face-to-face surveillance in these routes.
In particular, it will ensure compliance with the safety rules regarding the lateral distance in the overtaking to cyclists, improper speed or maneuvers antireglamentarias
路 3,000 more patrols in July and August.
路 Preventive controls of alcohol and other drugs on these selected routes, as well as on their access routes
路 The helicopter patrols of the DGT will include these protected cycle routes in their surveillance work
路 Through the provincial heads will be requested the active collaboration of the local police to improve the security in these routes
路 Collaborators will also be requested to cooperate with cyclists with protected routes, so that, as far as possible, priority is given to conservation tasks that may be necessary.
In short, from the DGT ensure that these measures pursue the key objective of: increasing road safety for all users, making the road a place of coexistence, and strengthen a good road culture, a common space that everyone has Your site.
