Emergency Director José Ramón Carrasco visited the beach of El Castellar on Friday to verify the operation of the municipal Plan Copla, organized in Mazarrón in collaboration with the Red Cross.
In his visit, accompanied by the mayor, Alicia Jimenez, has made a balance of the statistics offered to date the regional rescue plan on beaches.
In total, 23,700 attendances were recorded in June and July, which is 12% less than in the same period of 2016.
In Mazarrón, has highlighted, Alicia Jimenez, until July 31, there were 2,555 attendances, with 2,374 of priests and first aid, 53 rescue and rescue, 126 information and social services and 2 asphyxia care by immersion with life and Transfer to hospital.
To date, in Mazarrón, has said the mayor "do not mourn any death."
Alicia Jiménez has encouraged the more than one hundred people who make up the Plan Copla municipal and congratulated them for their professionalism and dedication.
He has also visited the beach of El Castellar the manager of Emergency and Sanitary Emergencies of 061, Francisco Celdrán, who has indicated that during this summer six people, four of them seniors, have lost their lives in other beaches in the Region of Murcia.
Celdrán has pointed out the importance of monitoring this sector of the population and advised to avoid as much as possible that they bathe alone.
Drill to test the effectiveness of rescue equipment
The beach of El Castellar has also been the place where on the morning of this Friday a simulacrum has taken place that has served to verify the effectiveness of the rescue teams arranged in the municipality.
From July 1 to August 31, 36 lifeguards and patrons render their service in the 16 skilful surveillance posts on the coast: Mojón, Alamillo, Rihuete, Puerto-Rihuete, Puerto, La Isla Beach, Bahia, La Reya, La Pava, Nares, Castellar 1, Castellar 2, Bolnuevo Camping, Bolnuevo Center, Bolnuevo Oasis and Percheles.
A total of 51 aquatic lifeguards and patrons, a communications operator, three coordinators and two nurses will be available.
Finally, from September 1 to 10, 16 aquatic lifeguards and employers will ensure security on the coast at Puerto-Rihuete, La Reya, Castellar and Bolnuevo Centro, plus a coordinator and a communications operator.
In total 4 jet skis and a rescue boat are part of the mobile fleet that integrates the Plan Copla municipal for which it provides its service more than a hundred professionals.
In addition, 16 rescue canoes, 4 transport vehicles, 40 portable communication equipment, 16 oxygen therapy equipment, 16 resuscitators, 30 life vests and 37 rescue cans make up the technical means available to rescue personnel.
