125 years of history
The "Casas Consistoriales" of Mazarrón is a unique building of eclectic style built at the end of the 19th century to house the municipal offices of the Mazarrón City Council.
It was declared a Historical Artistic Monument of national character, by Royal Decree 3191, of October 26, 1983.
The construction of the "Consistorial Houses" began on July 9, 1889 with the project and supervision of the architect Francisco Ródenas Rosa, but health problems forced him to direct at a distance, and at random works, which caused enough problems To the contractors. Rodenas passes away on June 1, 1892 and it is the municipal architect, Francisco de Paula Oliver Rolandi, who receives the order to finish the work, leaving its imprint on the general distribution of the building, ornamental details, staircase, The Plenary Hall and the zinc temple that crowns it. In July 2001, due to the unfortunate general condition of the building, it was decided to evict it, and in 2005, its restoration was agreed, ending the same two years later.
The opening of its doors to the public after its conditioning and rehabilitation, as an exhibition and cultural space, was held on April 14, 2008.
