Today, Thursday, September 21, users, relatives and professionals of the Alzheimer's Care Unit of Mazarrón have commemorated the International Day of this disease with the slogan "I am still me."
15 users attend every week to the workshops and activities that take place in the Mazarrón Day Center.
A psychologist, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist and a caregiver work daily with them in two groups.
From the Alzheimer Unit is working in the prevention of the disease, as well as in achieving a reduction of the associated deterioration.
To achieve this goal, they carry out cognitive stimulation workshops that promote memory conservation, as well as improving attention and concentration.
Users can benefit from an individualized psychological care service to alleviate the stress, anxiety or fear that may lead to the progression of the disease.
Occupational therapy services are also offered, which help users to promote their independence by conducting group workshops as well as individual therapies that encourage them to maintain their autonomy.
In addition, in the Day Center they have at their disposal the physiotherapy service, through which they perform physical exercise to avoid sedentarism and, through an individualized service, prevent the associated physical deterioration.
