The high speed of Internet connection will reach all schools in the municipality thanks to the Connectivity Plan of the Autonomous Community as a result of a collaboration agreement signed with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and Red.es.
The total investment in the municipality amounts to 86,000 euros.
The plan of connectivity will suppose to multiply by 10 the speed of connection in the educational centers, according to inform from the Ministry of Education.
For the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, "this is an important investment in the municipality that seeks an improvement in the use of digital resources that can be accessed by schoolchildren in Mazarrón."
Digital Centers Program
The CEIP Manuela Romero of Puerto de Mazarrón and the IES Felipe II of Mazarrón and Antonio Hellín Costa of Puerto de Mazarrón are three of the 116 educational centers of the Community that have adhered to the new program 'Digital centers' that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has launched this course.
The objective is to promote the widespread incorporation of digital educational media and resources to the development of teaching activity, and to progressively replace the traditional textbook with electronic media.
Of the 116 centers attached to this course, five are arranged, 54 are for Children and Primary and 57 for Secondary Education.
The program consists of two modalities, basic and advanced, depending on the subjects taught in digital format.
The basic modality involves offering digital teaching in at least 25 percent of the subjects taught, while advanced requires at least 75 percent of the subjects.
This year 22 centers have started directly with the advanced modality.
The program provides greater flexibility for the use of educational resources in digital format and adapts the teachings to the new technologies and to the students of the school.
For its part, the Infant and Primary schools can be assigned from the second section of primary (4th, 5th and 6th).
In addition, the program includes teacher training, both in face-to-face courses and in exchange of experiences.
In this regard, three courses have already been called and another three are scheduled to be held in January, as well as a few days for teachers in April.
Likewise, a Collaborative Platform of Didactic Materials will be created, whose objective is that teachers who elaborate digital content can share and make available to their classmates by creating a content repository that teachers can access, and create a platform in Moodle of Murciaeduca.
More technology in the centers
Also, the Ministry of Education has allocated almost 5 million euros to renew the computers of the centers, which means the acquisition of 6,941 computers, 600 monitors, 50 interactive whiteboards and the reconditioning of another 500 computers.
