Mazarrón expects every year with great enthusiasm the organization of the celebrations of the Miracle of the Immaculate, has affirmed the regional deputy of the Popular Party, Mónica Meroño during his speech in the parliamentary tribune to support the request for declaration of Regional Tourist Interest, a request that has obtained the unanimous support of the autonomous parliament.

Mónica Meroño recalled that the Bolnuevo pilgrimage originated in the sixteenth century when a miracle of the virgin Immaculate Conception, La Purisima, as it is known in Mazarrón, saved the town from the sacking of a Berber raid.

The popular deputy has highlighted the great reception that this cultural and religious manifestation has among the inhabitants of Mazarrón and its surroundings where thousands of pilgrims accompany the Virgin each year on her way to the hermitage of Bolnuevo.

Monica Meroño has said that the pilgrimage of the Miracle is a symbolic and festive act that has been gaining relevance in the field of festivities and we can consider it the most participatory event of all that take place in the town, not only for the majority attendance of all the town, but by the massive arrival of visitors from nearby towns that have also made it theirs.

The regional deputy of the PP considers that this petition is a well-deserved recognition and a way to promote and deseasonalize tourism.
