The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, has read this Friday in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to the Institutional Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women prior to the International Day that is celebrated this Saturday, November 25.
Alicia Jiménez has shown her condemnation of gender violence against the students of the educational centers IES Felipe II, Antonio Hellín, Colegio Siglo XXI and users of the Day Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities of Mazarrón.
"In commemoration of this international day, we echo those women who have been subjected to physical violence for years, and those who are victims of a subtle mistreatment that undermines them inside and cruelly attacks their dignity. present, to children exposed to abuse suffered by their mothers, other direct victims of gender violence who suffer serious consequences and, for a long time, have been the forgotten ones, "said Alicia Jiménez.
The mayor concluded her speech by stating that "gender violence is the ultimate expression of inequality between men and women and the worst of humiliations, to end it, is our duty and commitment, is a realistic and hopeful challenge."
Then the participating schools have shown their rejection with different activities.
Theater, music and protest messages have offered the clear commitment of the educational community with the idea of ​​eradicating violence against women.
Members of the municipal corporation and Social Policy workers have accompanied the students during the development of the act held in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
The activity has ended with a Gymkana for Equality.

In the Day Against Gender Violence this Saturday, November 25, the Red Cross will be an active part of these days in an Information Desk organized by the CAVI of the City of Mazarrón.
It will take place at 10:00 in the weekly market of Mazarrón, taking advantage of the greater presence of neighbors and visitors.
This will be followed by various activities in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, starting at 12:00, as indicated by Carmen Navarro, president of the Local Assembly of the Red Cross.
To these days have also joined the shops of the municipality through a campaign organized by the Association of Merchants of Mazarrón y Comarca (ACOMA).
In the different participating establishments these days a violet ribbon looks like a symbol of commitment.
On the other hand, Felicidad Cano will offer a Talleroterapia Workshop on Thursday, November 23 at the Center for People with Disabilities of Mazarrón.
On Monday, November 27, the City Council hosts a Local Coordination Table against Gender Violence.
Throughout the year, the CAVI office has opened 53 new cases for gender violence.
Of these, 4 belonged to underage girls, whose cases were referred by the respective guidance departments.
The average age of the woman mistreated in Mazarrón is 35 years, notifying an increase in the last year of women over 50 and under 20 years, as pointed out by the psychologist of CAVI de Mazarrón, Rosa Jorquera.
The majority of those assisted in the CAVI de Mazarrón are women of Spanish nationality (26), followed by Moroccan (11), Ecuadorian (7) and Romanian (3) women.
The statistics are completed by women of eight other nationalities.
As for the type of abuse, in 31 cases it was physical and psychological abuse and in 22 it was psychological abuse.
Since the CAVI de Mazarrón office began operating in 2006, a total of 835 files have been registered.
