On Sunday, December 3 Mazarrón will host the XV edition of the National Outdoor Painting Competition Landscapes of Mazarrón Memorial "Domingo Valdivieso" organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Mazarrón through the Popular University.
Around half a hundred artists usually attend this event that attracts the interest of artists from all over the country.
As in previous editions, painters older than 16 years, resident or not, can participate in this contest.
The theme of the work will be "Landscapes of Mazarrón" and will be reflected on canvas, wood or any rigid support, being free the technique to use.
The participants are summoned on the morning of December 3 at 8:00 am at the Cultural Center of Mazarrón.
There until 11:00 hours they will make the registration and until 18:00 hours they will have time to choose a place, plan and finally shape the work.
Thanks to the collaboration of companies in the municipality will be distributed about 7,000 euros in prizes.
The winner will receive a prize of 2,500 euros, the second classified 1,500 euros and the third, 1,000 euros.
In addition, there will be a special watercolor prize with 600 euros and four runners-up prizes of 350 euros each.
The jury will be chaired by the mayor of Mazarrón and is usually composed of reference painters.
Book of José Toral and other cultural events in the Patron Saint Festival
The Open Air Painting Contest is the most outstanding cultural event of a festival that begins next Friday and in whose programming there are also other interesting events such as the Book Presentation "José Toral y Velázquez" by the author Juan Romera, in the that the figure of the Mazarron general who played a role in the conflict in Cuba in 1898 is analyzed. This presentation will take place in Casas Consistoriales on Tuesday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m.
In addition, Juan Francisco Belmar exhibits, also on December 5 at 10:00 pm in the Exhibition Hall of the Popular University on Avenida de la Constitución.
To the sample of Belmar is added the painting exhibition "Mazarrón, El Mar y Yo" by Cristóbal Pérez García that can be seen in Casas Consistoriales de Mazarrón until January 16.
