The Mazarron fulfilled the tradition this Friday celebrating the liturgical acts that are organized on the occasion of the Day of the Immaculate Conception, Patroness of the municipality.
The day began with a morning Mass at the Residencia de Ancianos, during which the traditional homage of the Red Cross took place.
At noon the Solemn Eucharist was celebrated in the Sanctuary during which the composed Mazarronera Mass was performed, to honor the Patroness, more than half a century ago by Juan de la Cruz and Antonio Saura.
The mayor, Alicia Jiménez, attended this event along with other members of the municipal corporation.
In the afternoon the procession with the image of the Patroness took place.
The procession left the Sanctuary accompanied by the Band of Drums and Bugles, followed by the Infants Association and the banner of the Purisima.
The queen of the festivities marched in front of the throne, Estefanía Graciela Granda and her bridesmaids, as well as the infant queen, Ángela Ortiz and her cortege.
Also, a representation of the mayors pedáneos carrying the hachotes belonging to each of the districts.
Mazarroneros and mazarroneras lighting the Virgin on a peaceful afternoon in which the Patron wore her throne of white flowers through the streets of Mazarrón.
The procession was closed by the religious and civil authorities and finally by the band of the Maestro Eugenio Calderón School.
