The students of the Bay School of Puerto de Mazarrón presented this Friday "Leo in the Tower", a children's book made by children that is born from a project to promote reading promoted by the AMPA center, with the collaboration of the City of Mazarrón , through the Department of Libraries, and the stationery and bookstores of Puerto de Mazarrón.

Alicia Jiménez, mayor of Mazarrón, attended the presentation at an event held at the school with the presence of teachers, parents and other relatives of the students.

Salvador Ardil, director of the center, highlighted the work carried out by the AMPA members to carry out the project.

Elisa López, member of the AMPA, has influenced the open and inclusive character of a center that progresses thanks to its diversity and the interest shown by the teaching staff.

The children who have participated in the writing of the book have read fragments of it before the public that filled the classroom.

The mayor, Alicia Jiménez, has encouraged them to continue practicing the habit of reading and has congratulated those responsible for the initiative.

The book "Leo in the Tower" is available in the bookstores Calle Mayor, Cole Sport, Papelería Navarro, Librería Papelería Vivancos and Carlin.

It is also available on demand at Amazon, Cegal en Red, Casa del Libro and FNAC. The Leo in the Tower project started last year when activities such as: traveling backpacks, bookmark creation workshop, cinema exit prize for the elderly were carried out readers of the school, collective elaboration of stories, exhibition of the works of the students in the Municipal Library and storytelling for the cycle of Infantile Education.

Among the future actions of the project "Leo in the Tower" is the continuation of the traveling backpacks (loan of books and audiovisual material in the form of exchange between families), bookend workshop to be held in the Library of Puerto de Mazarrón, storytelling and history writing workshops and other alphabets.
