This Wednesday, users, relatives, monitors, volunteers and those in charge of the Alzheimer's Unit of the Day Center enjoyed a day of conviviality during the celebration of the Christmas holidays.
More than 100 people have attended a party that fulfills an integrative objective.
Laura Ortiz, Councilor for Social Policy of the City of Mazarrón, thanked the work and effort used by those who have collaborated in the realization of the day in which videos have been screened, a festival of melodies has been held and carried out demonstrations of gerontogimnasia.
During the morning, there have also been dance performances, games and Christmas workshops.
The group of Totana "The pilgrims of Lebor" have played Christmas carols and a photocall with a living crib has been organized, before offering a lunch to all those present.
Currently, 15 people make use of the services provided by the Alzheimer's Unit of Mazarrón.
From this unit we work in the prevention of the disease, as well as in the attainment of a reduction of the associated deterioration.
To achieve this goal, they carry out cognitive stimulation workshops that encourage the conservation of memory, as well as the improvement of attention and concentration.
Users can benefit from an individualized psychological care service, to alleviate the stress, anxiety or fear that the advancement of the disease may cause.
Occupational therapy services are also offered, which help users to promote their independence by holding group workshops as well as individual therapies that encourage them to preserve their autonomy.
In addition, in the Day Center they have at their disposal the physiotherapy service, through which they perform physical exercise to avoid a sedentary lifestyle and, through an individualized service, prevent associated physical deterioration.
