Alicia Jiménez has presented on Friday in Madrid the mobile application "Routes by Mazarrón".
The mayor of Mazarrón, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, Javier Celdrán, and the Councilor for Tourism, María Ángeles Román, has detailed the wide range offered by the municipality in terms of routes for cycling and hiking.
"More than 30 routes show the possibility of practicing sport by the sea or in inland areas, one of them the recently inaugurated Vía Verde de Mazarrón", said the mayor who also mentioned recent studies that talk about the high impact economic that cyclotourism supposes.
"We are talking about figures of over 40,000 million euros per year in the European continent, in our country it is a land to be exploited and here comes into play the offer that Mazarrón brings this year to Fitur".
Routes through Mazarrón picks up 8 routes in its first phase, which can be accessed through four entries: Mountain Biking, Road Cycling / Cycling, Hiking and Cultural Routes.
The mobile application presented this year by Mazarrón in Fitur includes the latest advances in geolocation and shows what experts call "augmented reality" that takes advantage of the mobile phone's geolocation systems to instantly offer an expanded offer of the services it offers. the user can find in the area: accommodation, restaurants, services, beaches, health centers ....
The application also includes an alert button connected to the emergency 112, in addition to exit alerts for when the user deviates from the journey.
This tool will collect all the potential that Mazarrón has in terms of routes and leisure for tourists interested in outdoor exercise.
Alicia Jiménez has advanced the lines to follow in the field of tourism in 2018. "We want to attract the attention of operators focused on sports tourism, taking into account the economic impact that other European countries have already been certified. and together with our Regional Government, we continue to work in our municipality with the help of entrepreneurs and hoteliers, innovating, offering new products and expanding the offer, and the approval of tax credits has already attracted the interest of investors that are beginning to open, with remarkable success , new establishments ", pointed out Alicia Jiménez who also recalled the remarkable occupation figures registered by the municipality during the past year.
The mayor began his speech mentioning the tourism potential of a municipality whose beaches waved eight blue flags last summer.
"The 35 kilometers of coastline with different options for the bather, the canine beaches, the wide range of leisure and activities offered, the improved access and the restriction to traffic in the virgin coves of Bolnuevo have undoubtedly attracted interest of the visitor in a point of the bay with natural landscapes of great beauty, with crystalline waters where you can see cetaceans a few kilometers from the coast or in which you can submerge to admire its seabed, "said the mayor.
After the presentation of the mobile app "Rutas por Mazarron", the municipality offered a tasting of typical products of the bay.
