The Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, today closed the Fire Prevention Week in Mazarrón, which has made more than 3,000 schoolchildren, elderly and disabled aware of the importance of prevention to avoid fires.
Rivera, along with the deputy mayor of Mazarrón, Pedro Martínez, made a tour of the media and workshops deployed in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento on the Prevention Party, where they gave the essential advice on fire safety.
This activity is organized by the Consortium for the Extinction of Fire and Rescue of the Region of Murcia (CEIS), the Professional Association of Firemen Technicians (APTB) and the Mapfre Foundation.
"It is important to have great professionals to react when a fire occurs, and here in the Region of Murcia we have some exceptional firefighters, but more important is to prevent these fires from occurring and know how to react in case of fire," remarked the counselor .
"The councils are simple preventions and good practices to react correctly in an emergency, but enough to save lives," said Rivera, who stressed that "the regional government takes security very seriously because without it you can not enjoy freedom and the rest of the rights and we know that education in prevention is fundamental ".
Through the talks and simulations that have been held this week in Mazarrón, it has been transferred in a didactic way to thousands of people, focusing on the youngest, oldest and those with a disability, a series of basic notions of a preventive nature.
"Actions like this involve fostering a culture of prevention and self-protection, acting with a sense of responsibility and guaranteeing security and effective action in the face of emergencies," he said.
The Fire Prevention Week is an activity organized since 2006 by the CEIS, the Mapfre Foundation and the Professional Association of Firemen Technicians, in collaboration with the city councils and educational centers.
