Miguel Rubio, editor of La Verdad de Murcia and author of the blog "Microhistorias" opened on Monday the XVI Conference "Carlantum" with a conference focused on Mazarron architecture of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The journalist Mazarron made aware of the importance of the local heritage as well as the need to preserve it.
The presentation was attended by the mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, the Councilor for Culture, Pedro Martínez and other members of the municipal corporation, in addition to the director of the Popular University, José María López.
The "Carlantum" Days continue on Tuesday, February 20, with a talk by biologist Ana Muñoz about the study of trace elements from mining in sediments and megaplankton of the Mar Menor.
On Thursday, February 22, it will be the turn of the researcher from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) who will speak about "Contaminated soils and mining heritage".
On Friday, February 23, they will present the Carlantum Acts.
Finally, on Monday, February 26, the conference cycle will be closed by Luis Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the Pescartes Association of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, with a talk on "Traditional fishing gear, gear and methods currently in disuse".
All lectures are free and take place at 9:30 p.m. in the exhibition hall of the Popular University on the Constitution Avenue of Mazarrón.
"Carlantum" is an activity organized by the Popular University in collaboration with the City Council's Department of Culture.
Its permanence in the time has turned it into a cultural appointment that deepens in the knowledge of the local thing and the related thing with the municipality.
