The Port of Mazarrón hosted, on March 24 and 25, the first Flyski Championship in Spain, a sport that makes its way into the world of motonautics competition, and consists of performing acrobatics on a board that is powered by the water pressure produced by a water motorcycle.
The competition counted with the participation of ten men and four women.
The winner of the boys was David Pereira, followed by Alberto Leceta and the third place went to Enrique Soriano.
The podium of the girls was composed by Cristina Rodríguez, at the top;
second place for Liria Cocho and the third place was occupied by Isabel González.
Despite the strong wind that blew during the two days, the Championship was a success.
The risky acrobatics of the participants attracted many curious to the facilities of the Yacht Club, where they enjoyed the show in an unbeatable environment for water sports.
During the day of Saturday a first selection was made after two exercises carried out by each competitor, one with certain pirouettes with a duration of one and a half minutes;
and another free, with a duration of two minutes.
The jury, made up of judges from the Federation, decided which were the finalists that should participate in the final day, which was the next day.
They scored several aspects, such as skill, difficulty, accuracy, etc ... In addition to competing, the participants and their companions enjoyed a weekend in an atmosphere of camaraderie and extraordinary sportsmanship.
In the delivery of prizes was present the councilor of sports of the city council of Mazarrón, Patricio Sánchez;
the president of the Spanish Motonautics Federation, José Miguel Martínez;
the president of the Nautical Club of Puerto de Mazarrón, Juan Marín;
the representative of Shiro Helmets, Lucía Tomás;
and Dionisio Baño, president of the Federation of Motonautics of the Region of Murcia, organizer of the test.
Both the councilor and the president of the Yacht Club, agreed on the importance of promoting sports events taking advantage of the privileged geographic enclave of Mazarrón, which contribute to publicize the municipality and help local commerce in times of less affluence.
For his part, Dionisio Baño, wanted to highlight and thank the excellent collaboration of the municipality of Mazarrón and the Nautical Club.
