16 students of 4th of ESO of the four institutes of the municipality have participated this Friday in the final phase of the I Constitutional Olympiad.
An activity that was launched last December and has had the involvement of a total of 300 students and their teachers.
The mayor of Mazarrón, Alicia Jiménez, and the councilman of Culture, Pedro Martínez, have accompanied the group of finalist students and have congratulated them for having reached the final stage.
"We wanted to promote, together with the University of Murcia, the knowledge of our Constitution among the younger generations, finally organizing an event that has made Mazarrón a pioneer," said the mayor at the beginning of the test.
The awards ceremony, for which there is a global allocation of 1,000 euros, place in the first week of the month of June.
The Constitutional Olympiad of Mazarrón is the first Olympiad of these characteristics held in Spain, and the third in the world.
With it Mazarrón becomes the founding municipality of the Constitutional Olympiad in Spain, and the University of Murcia, for its part, in the creation of the Constitutional Olympiad.The Constitutional Olympiad aims to make the students of 4th of the ESO of the 4 secondary schools of Mazarrón (IES Felipe II, IES Domingo Valdivieso-Mazarron, IES Antonio Hellín Costa, XXI century College, Puerto de Mazarrón) study and know the Spanish Constitution of 1978 through the extracurricular activity. of two phases, the first of them, carried out in the centers, concluded last Friday, April 13 with an eliminatory test in which 4 winners were selected per center.
Likewise, through the format of pre-tastes and answers, the final phase consisted in the "confrontation" of the 16 elected / as they have been passing rounds of eighth, quarter, semifinal and final.
After the test, the IES Felipe II has obtained the victory in the modality of centers.
Nerea Fernández (IES Felipe II) is the winner in the individual category.
