The mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, and Councillor for Infrastructure and Planning, José Antonio Román, visited the historical source of the Plaza Ramón y Cajal after its recent restoration and refurbishment.
These works have included paving, pedestrian and parking adequacy.
This is an important action based on the improvement and upgrading of one of the most emblematic of the municipality located in a transit of citizens along the Parish Center and back of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
According to data from the Municipal Archives, Plaza Ramón y Cajal was called Plaza de Palacios until 1922, which was agreed to change its name at the request of doctors at the villa.
The source, who is in this square, was built in 1869 to provide water service to the people of Mazarrón.
In the year 1892 is presented by Paula Oliver Francisco Rolandi, architect and author of the Town Hall building, a project for sewer and paving it and in the nineties of last century it came to be restored by the City Council Workshop School Mazarrón.
This action has been undertaken by the company Mazarron 'Isavimo SL' being all-important renewal of one of the most important pieces of urban architecture of historic Mazarrón.
The project, funded by the Plan E, is valued at EUR 54,157.85.
