The Director General of Tourism, Marina Garcia, visited this week with the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya, works of perimeter wall of the Castle of Vélez, for which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism allocated a total of 120,000 euros through Mazarron Tourism Consortium.
The works consist of the perimeter fence around the castle grounds by installing a fence 2.5 meters high combining masonry wall and fence.
In addition to the perimeter fence will be installed three gates, two of them who are currently serving the auditorium and outdoor service area of the stage, and a third inning double that will be accessible from the rear of City Hall Once the project is made full recovery of the castle.
After the visit, held a regular meeting of the members of the Tourist Consortium of Mazarrón, in which the proceedings were reviewed in 2008 and 2009.
With respect to investments in infrastructure competitive tendering by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Mazarrón in 2008 are completed works of adaptation and restoration of the Tower of Bolnuevo horses, and since 2009 are running cladding works Castle of Vélez.
As a registered subsidies Mazarron Tourism Consortium in 2008 was allocated 280,000 euros for the following activities: feasibility study of the Phoenician ship, tourist signs, value of the water intake of salt on the beach and Nares other tourist facilities on beaches.
In 2009, invested another 280,000 euros for the bicycle hire service for tourist use, works the Marquesa de los Vélez Auditorium at the Castle and tourist facilities on beaches.
