UGT has publicly denounced "the lack of management of occupational risk prevention" in the municipality of Mazarron, and the "arrogance" of some managers at the time of organizing work, are "major causes of accidents like this Thursday, the electrician who has died of the Consistory of this county. The union regretted the death of a worker who, in his view, "could have been avoided," and explained that the death has occurred "when he fell from the basket truck Mazarrón City Council when, apparently, another truck hit Shopping and the worker fell to the ground, "UGT sources said in a statement.
The union says it learned, apparently, the employee "was in solitary tasks to replace light bulbs and lighting was not properly signposted road."
UGT considers that the City of Mazarrón "has been in breach of the legal provisions concerning the prevention of occupational hazards" and, in fact, pointed out that, although UGT requested the convening of the Health and Safety Committee on June 25 2010, this body of worker participation "has not yet been met."
He also explained that the UGT, CSIF SIME and the City of Mazarrón proposed last July 6, 2010 the creation of prevention service itself, which could develop risk assessments, training and prevention plan, among other things, such as provided in Law 31/1995 and Regulation of the Prevention Services for companies with between 250 and 500 workers.
UGT regrets the "high" number of fatal work injuries recorded in the Region of Murcia and has indicated that in the absence of official information and the end of the year, the number of workers who died as a result of their work in 2010 is around 40, when the previous year were 33.
