This morning the mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco Blaya has held a working group with all the equipment that makes up the 'Feasibility Study Mazarrón Phoenician boat. "
This meeting was the Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Alicia Jimenez, and the Underwater Archeology professor Manuel Martín Bueno, as well as technicians, engineers and archaeologists.
Later in the press conference in which representatives were also present Prointec Company and the Manager of Tourism, Pio Garrido, had the official presentation of the alternative chosen to realize the feasibility study.
At the meeting with the media, Francisco Blaya has shown "interest of Mazarron in preserving the Phoenician ship, looking for the best alternative for its value and tourism promotion."
After much research, Martin Well, for whom the convenience is the removal of Phoenician ship and its conservation in humid, as directed by the UNESCO Declaration on Underwater Heritage, stated that this project stands out for its cultural magnitude, uniqueness and its important fundraising.
The Phoenician wreck reside in a large bowl with the same environmental conditions, as it will be connected directly to the beach of the island, located where it is currently the Interpretation Centre Phoenician boat.
The Phoenician ship will be located in a museum, worth of 530 sq meters and located on two floors, on the ground floor is the wreck with a part and on the top floor there will be a conference room with audiovisual equipment.
This element, which is configured with a benefit to the town of Mazarrón, born with the intention of turning the town into an international tourist destination.
