Mazarrón City Council has announced this morning the debt situation of the municipal coffers to June 10 this year, the date on which the change of government occurred in front of the consistory.

The mayor of the municipality, Ginés Campillo, has revealed that the debt amounted to 26,942,538.83 euros.

To this figure must be added to account for the outstanding debt as of that date, amounting to 5,690,680, 93 euros.

Both figures show a total debt of EUR 32,633,219.76.

These accounts have been created by the intervention services that took into account the economic situation that emerges from non-financial debt, as the financial situation of the loans.

In this sense, non-financial debt (suppliers and creditors) amounts to a total of 19,912,131.70 euros, to which must be added EUR 7,030,407.13 from loans of the financial part.

As commented Campillo, "the government team has kept his word and we wanted to convey to people the real situation we find ourselves."

According to the deputy mayor, Francisco García, this delicate situation is further compounded "by the mismanagement of the previous government team who has allowed municipal heritage squandered" losing even heavily subsidized now must return the session.

Campillo has explained that in this debt, 1,253,205.55 euros related to the repayment of grants obtained from the central and regional governments must return because of poor project implementation, or for not even started work.

5,690,680 euros of outstanding accounting, given the fact that EUR 2,447,806.65 was expenditure from previous years that were made without there being budgetary provision and exceeding the expenditure ceiling to mark the annual budgets.

The rest, 390,775.30 euros, corresponding to obligations recognized by the Local Government dated 23 and June 30 cost of the previous corporation.

Finally, in terms of debt to banks for loans, "taking into account the figures we handle, we can say that the situation in comparison with non-financial debt is not so bad," he pointed Campillo.

Money owed to credit institutions amounted to 10 June to EUR 7,030,407.13.
