A large group of citizens of Mazarrón, who yesterday gathered at the local Residents Association Bolnuevo with the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, unanimously decided to delay the conclusion of the pilgrimage of the miracle a week in order to avoid this popular festival coincides with the call to the polls to be held on 20 November for the General Election.
In an act of commitment to the residents of the municipality, the Mayor, accompanied by First Deputy Mayor, Francisco Garcia and council of Celebration, Isidro Coy, presented the pros and cons of this simultaneity.
The components of the two Bolnuevo neighborhood associations, and representatives of the Confraternity of La Purisima, the village headman of Bolnuevo, José Antonio González, and other neighbors who are actively involved in organizing these festivities concluded that delaying the pilgrimage a week does not pose a conflict for the party.
On the contrary, dozens of people are flocking from all parts of the region that could leave to attend this celebration if finally agreed with the general elections, so it decided to move the procession of 20 to 27 November.
The complementary actions of this festive holiday big day the miracle will take place the same weekend of the pilgrimage, that is, on Friday 25 and Saturday 26.
What does not change is the rise of the Virgin from Bolnuevo to Mazarrón, to be produced, as always, the Sunday before November 17, which this year falls on a Sunday 13.
Confraternity representatives stated that, as everyone knows, the dates of both upstream and downstream of the Virgin are not movable, and are contained in the Constitution, as it has been tradition.
But that being the purpose that the image at the heart of the town on the day of commemoration of the miracle, would not affect the descent, or the Pilgrimage, will be held a week later.
On the 17th day of the Miracle, will also continue to be a public holiday in the municipality and, as usual, carry out actions that are being liturgical tradition.
This circumstance will the Immaculate Conception, affectionately called "Virgen del Milagro" by the residents of Bolnuevo, spend a week over at the Shrine of the Immaculate de Mazarrón, something that never happened before.
Both the City Council and neighborhood associations working Bolnuevo and, once determined the date of the celebration, this popular festival that gets together every year hundreds of people.
