Councillor for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Magdalena Mendez traveled to Murcia last week to visit two Directorates General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in order to perform multiple requests on behalf of farmers and ranchers in the municipality.
Specifically, the mayor met with the Director General of Food Industry and Agricultural Training Lidón Angel Garcia, and Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal.
First requested Mendez Garcia Lidón, helps both small and medium farmers and the livestock sector of the municipality, and whose main objective would be to maintain economic and social life in rural areas.
The mayor also called for establishing a service office in Mazarron farmer that depends on the District Agricultural Office of Fuente Alamo - Mazarron.
Other applications made to the general direction of Food Industry and Agricultural Training aids were the implementation of subtropical fruit experimental plots in the area of ​​the coast, and the performance of a conference in the town of subtropical tree crops and other actions aimed at promoting integrated or sustainable agriculture.
It should be noted that the City council of Agriculture is working to introduce alternative crops that supplement or replace the cultivation of tomato farms in the municipality, and to promote integrated farming or as an alternative Bioagricultura economic sustainability in rural areas.
An example of this work was recently performed Mendez visited the Experimental Station of Tropical Crops Cajamar, located on the farm of The Palmerillas in Almeria.
On the other hand, Mendez asked the Directorate General of Irrigation and Rural Development conditioning and paved rural roads of the municipality that are on land and those with strong built roads which are very deteriorated.
In this vein, the mayor urged to counseling to make an inventory of public roads in the municipality.
In regard to infrastructure, Mendez required the development of a rural electrification plan for those areas without electricity, local social construction of two neighborhood associations for two districts that lack this type of property and the aid for the installation of single-family houses scattered sewage to reuse this water for agricultural irrigation.
Furthermore, in defense of the Historical, requested the restoration and conservation of churches and La Majada Gañuelas and aid to be designed to promote rural tourism in addition to farming.
