The workshops on Mazarron "Carlantum" celebrated its tenth anniversary this year with 4 conference will focus, as usual, historical and social aspects related to the town and its region.
The People's University of Mazarron (UPM) will be the place that will host this conference to be held between 20 and 24 February from half past 9 at night.
The presentation ceremony was chaired by the Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, the Councillor for Culture, Education and Tourism, Maria Celeste Soria, and the director of the UPM, Jose Maria Lopez Ballesta.
The first conference, on Monday the 20th, will focus on "Mining in the territory of ancient Carthage. The miner saw Cartagena, La Union and Mazarron District" and shall be given by a professor at the University of Murcia and recent mining expert Juan Antonio Marin Antolinos.
This presentation will be "an initial outline of more than 8 years of mining studies conducted in the Coto Fortuna" as Ballesta Lopez said.
It is intended that "next year" Carlantum "only to turn around this issue due to the great importance of this research."
On Tuesday, 21, professor at the University of Almería, Nieves Gómez López, will speak on "Stories, legends and other genres of oral tradition of Mazarron."
This paper will explain "the relationship between oral literature and neighbors, seeing the influence of that population and vice versa."
The talks will continue on Wednesday 23, when Morales Rogelio Hernandez explain the details and events of "Being a woman and live in the country (1920-1960)" during the time period indicated in the title.
The conference will close on Friday 24 February with the presentation "A demographic approach to Mazarron eighteenth century. A case of post-mortem cesarean" that will give Joaquin Ruiz Garcia, a high school teacher institute Barcelona.
This talk, who will speak on the municipality's population in the eighteenth century, "is part of a wide-ranging study on the demographics of Mazarron in Modernity that is taking place this teacher."

At this conference is to join an exhibition called "Perspectives" which will consist of 36 images from different photographers from the region and which may be seen in the People's University itself.
The Mayor of Mazarron, Ginés Campillo, encouraged residents to actively participate in these activities and to "encourage and bring us closer to the here, ours. Something that, today, is almost a necessity."
The Mayor thanked the work of the UPM has joined the conference to celebrate the 440 anniversary of independence of the municipality.
Also, the director of UPM stressed the importance of "Carlantum" because it is "a platform that helps us to know what is investigated on Mazarron now", so totally disinterested collaboration thanked the various speakers "we help you better understand and disseminate our own. "
Meanwhile, the mayor stressed that Soria Maria Celeste "Carlantum is an open door to knowledge and cultural development of the municipality, an annual reference which mazarroner 's should be proud."
