Mazarrón host from 2 to 4 February a new cultural event that is destined to become a meeting point where research, past and present will be the protagonists.
PHICARIA, title to which is referred to these international meetings of the Mediterranean, due out this year for everything great and sponsored by the celebration of 440 anniversary of independence of the Town of Almazarron.
The activity is organized by the Universidad Popular de Mazarron (UPM), who has developed a full program this year will focus on food production in Mediterranean societies.
A diverse faculty will attend the conference and speakers as Ramon Buxó the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia, Violeta Maria Novella and Sana of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​the Mendo Oihan Complutense de Madrid and Mohamed El Mhassani of Pompeu Fabra, including professors and lecturers arrivals from the universities of Murcia, Almeria and Granada.
They talk about the Mediterranean diet, either from a historical and current perspective and explain how it has developed the production of food in different societies of the Mediterranean.

The director of the UPM, Jose Maria Lopez Ballesta, said that "talk about food and particularly of the Mediterranean diet is something that is valid and that, therefore, of interest to everyone."
Ballesta Lopez thanked the participation of speakers and reviewed some of the conferences that talk about Egypt, Morocco and the European Middle Ages and that "will be particularly interesting for its deep scientific and informative work."
The presentation was also attended by Pedro Mora, president of the College of PhDs and Graduates in Arts and Science in the Region of Murcia, and Sebastian Ramallo, professor at the University of Murcia, who ventured a good future for PHICARIA.
