The Director General of Cultural Industries and the Arts, Juan Antonio Lorca, today introduced the VI International Photography 'Fotogenio 2012', to be held from 9 to 11 March in Mazarron.
He was accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Ginés Campillo and festival director, Juan Sanchez.
Lorca said that "Fotogenio is an initiative that has become known in his own right as a major event can turn to Mazarron in the national center of photography and the Region as a place of artistic and cultural events."
The director general added that "at last year more than 700 people, which has become a 'Fotogenio' in the most important photographic meeting in Spain."
The event will feature important speakers from the world of photography.
Among them, Steve McCurry, a photographer for 'National Geographic', author of the image 'The Afghan Girl' which was published as the cover of the magazine in 1985.
They further point out Fructu Navarro, Bence Máté, winner of the 'BBC Wildlife Photographer', Rebeca Saray and Clemente Jimenez, who won an award as a wedding photographer with the 'European Golden Wedding Camera Award 2010'.
Also participating in the contest Ricky Davila Spanish photojournalist and photographer Mauro Alvarez Fuentes, who has a blog guides, video tutorials, tips and photographic analysis, followed by more than 20,000 people.
One of the new activities offered this year 'Fotogenio' is a portfolio review, adapted to the crisis, which offer enrollees the opportunity to share their work with renowned professionals of the photographic medium, receive guidance on their development and promotion, and choose one of two prizes to be awarded to the best portfolios of the contest.
Those interested can register for the three days of the event the price of 40 euros.
Attendees can attend lectures, try out the latest in photography, participate in activities and seminars, and meet industry professionals and visit the town of Mazarron.
