The Department of Civil Protection of Mazarron Town Hall organizes next weekend "Orientation Course II in Nature", during which participants who want to join the activity will acquire the techniques and skills necessary to navigate and orient themselves in any circumstances , either in games or in emergency situations.
The initiative is the participation of 20 volunteers from Civil Protection, Red Cross and the hiking club "Friends of Nature".
This is a free course organized by the municipality in collaboration with the general direction of Public Safety and Emergency Region of Murcia and has the support of the Department of Youth.
The trainer of the Municipal Emergency Services (EMS), Daniel J.
Aragon, has developed this training package has been approved by the DGSE, which consists of 30 hours of theoretical / practical to be developed in the vicinity of Mazarron and the Natural Park of Sierra Espuña.
The course is divided into 2 parts.
On 14 and 15, with a duration of 20 hours, the orientation course developed theoretical / practical from scratch and to be individually capable of performing an orientation tour.
On day 21, lasting 10 hours, will be the part of the "Improvement".
Participants will travel to Sierra Espuña where they will learn to orient themselves in unfamiliar territory without technical means, ie without a compass, and only with an official map of orientation.
He made several trips called "races" orientation, both in its planning stages of the race, as carrying it out.
The sport of Guideline covers the basics for anyone to know function in their environment, acquiring the skills and techniques needed to locate, find locations and navigate safely in any environment, whether regularly or completely unknown.
The course aims to train volunteers in orientation involved in emergencies, Civil Defence volunteers and Red Cross and volunteers who work with the City Council on activities of hiking and mountain belonging to the club "Friends of Nature" in Mazarron .
In April of last year marked the first edition with a total of 19 volunteers and staff of emergency services in the municipality.
This year 2012 have been offered places for volunteers working with the Department of Youth in organizing activities that it develops on hiking and mountain, as the recent "Path of the World", or others that will be organized soon.
