Sports Councilman Andres Valera, delivered yesterday to six custodians of sports facilities in a diploma certifying that they passed the course "semiautomatic external defibrillation" which had been given by the Spanish Red Cross.
The objective of this course is that "Sports area janitors know use these devices in order to deal with any eventuality or health emergency that can happen in our sports facilities," said the mayor.
The course has been developed over two days in the sports hall "The Aceña" and has had 12 hours of lessons, 6 are theoretical and 6 other practices.
After training their custodians, the next step for the Mazarrón Town Council will "install automated external defibrillators (AED) in the various sports facilities", as commented Andres Valera.
Sports councilor explained that "a claim is being made by sports federations and clubs nationwide and we want to respond."
The mayor also commented that "now these devices are very simple to use and can save lives if they are available in sports centers, since rapid intervention can be crucial to a cardiac arrest."
In fact, the use of these appliances in a situation of cardiac arrest exponentially increases the life expectancy of the person who has suffered provided that use the same occurs in the first three minutes after the stop.
Custodians who are certified are Antonio Garcia, Ramon Agea, Javier Garcia, Gines Navarro, Andres Mendez and Fernando Davila.
It is expected that the remaining dependent janitors Department of Sports also take this course during the coming weeks.
Thus, the session will be prepared to handle any emergency quickly once it becomes available in the aforementioned sports centers automated external defibrillators.
